Weston Super Mare has a few surprises up its sleeve when it comes to museums and is home to the celebrated Helicopter Museum. Located off the A371 in the Locking area, Weston Super Mare's Helicopter Museum offers a huge collection of choppers and also features a number of 'open cockpit' days.

Home to more than 80 different helicopters collected from many different countries, the Weston Super Mare Helicopter Museum is reputed to be the biggest of its kind in the whole world. Sited on the south-eastern side of the town's airfield, the Helicopter Museum dates back to 1958 and has gained popularity ever since. The museum also features a host of helicopter and aviation memorabilia, all of which are undercover. Other highlights include a gift shop selling helicopter souvenirs, a playground area and a cafe serving basic refreshments.

Full of history and local artefacts, the North Somerset Museum celebrates the county's rich heritage. With displays about various modes of transport and an exhibition celebrating the acclaimed engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the museum also features a series of changing exhibitions, and each Saturday, many fun activities are on offer for young children over seven years old.
